Over 300 volunteers

Here is a little guest post from Ian Brown about the work of the  Swanage coastguard.

Their website can be found here.

The Blogspot where I originally discovered them can be found here

Irish Coast Guard Rescue demoWe are very proud of the work of the Coastguard, which often goes unnoticed and very proud of our town so we set up the web sites to promote the work that goes on.

Whilst its shows the lighter side of the Coastguard we hope it promotes some very important safety messages to the public.

Our work is very different to any other rescue service, from giving advice, supporting other category one responders to rope rescues.

But its not just us, its a huge team effort, from the family and friends of the team – National Coastwatch, RNLI, local council just to name a few. The important point is the safety of the community and visitors to our coast.
